iPod Ad – Wild Postings

Oh yes, the iPod changed my life, literally. The fact that it could run on PCs made me curious to what the fuss was all about.  I’m a sucker for good ads, so i was intrigued by that one up there.. But what was the point of getting one, i asked myself? I didn’t need a music player cos i had cds in my car..

Enter the iPod FM transmitters! It meant that i could listen to my whole cd collection in my car without burning a single cd anymore! Transmitting the tunes from my iPod to the car stereo wirelessly seemed so cool back then (and it still does!).

I finally got myself a 3rd Gen iPod complete with FM Transmitter, fell in love with it and the rest was history. Not only did it look stunning at the time, it was seriously very easy to use. Syncing was simple and it was just easier to update my iPod with new songs every day, without having to burn a whole cd as i used to do. My love for the iPod in turn led to checking out what other things Apple had to offer..

Get a Mac – Trust Mac

Just another one of those ‘Get a Mac’ ads to start off another post. Don’t get sick of them just yet cos i’m planning on posting a few more haha. Hey, they are amusing, are’nt they? (Well to me at least ;p).

So what is this so called iPod Halo Effect you may ask? In brand marketing, a halo effect is one where the perceived positive features of a particular item extend to a broader brand. Thus the iPod Halo Effect phenomenon has been used to describe how the iPod has had positive effects on perceptions of Apple’s other products. In other words, the iPod’s popularity helped Apple get PC users jumping on the Mac bandwagon, and more and more people started getting interested in the whole Apple product line. With respect to Apple’s history in the computing business, i think the release of the iPod was really when Apple got it’s big break. It certainly showed the world the ease of use and beauty of Apple products.

I was a great PC fan before. Don’t get me wrong, i even still use PCs on a daily basis at work, and i still do think they’re great, but not as great as a Mac. My love for the computing world and PCs were the main reasons why i wanted to get a degree in any computing field. And indeed i did, in Business Information Techonology. PCs helped me love technology. PCs helped me become what i am today. My PC ‘skills’ secured me a very good job in Web Development & Design. So what’s wrong with a PC?

Quite alot actually. It never occurred to me just how much time i wasted troubleshooting, virus scanning, rebooting after PC hangs, searching (and destroying) spyware, etc etc etc! Oh, and not forgetting to mention all the hard work i lost due to all the frozen screens! With a Mac it’s been quite different. Life in computing seriously hasn’t been the same :p

Macs have seriously evolved from their not-so-user friendly interfaces back in the day. I remember trying to use one in uni and failed miserably. More importantly, anything created on a Mac in those days couldn’t be used or even opened in PCs. I guess, that was the main cause of their unpopularity. In my first year, the computer labs were divided into two sections, half was full of Macs, and the other half PCs. The PC section was usually full, in contrast to the empty Mac section. It wasn’t surprising that in my final year, the number of Mac computer labs started decreasing. So yea, Macs were very un-user friendly, ugly and very unpopular. My single experience with the Mac made me stay away from them.. until i met the iPod.

Hello Blogging Nation!

Wow, my very first attempt at blogging. Lets hope it’s easy as these bloggers make it to be. Im used to doing my webpages from scratch when designing websites so this is going to be awkward not having full control of the layout and all, but hey as long as its easy :)

The ever growing Bruneian Blogs Directory at Simpur made me want to jump on this blogging bandwagon and see what all the hype is about. Im a typical Bruneian I guess; Im the type who always wants to get involved with anything exciting happening here in ‘boring’ old Brunei. Any new found craze amongst us and I’ll be on it like a racehorse! Haha okay maybe not, but I’d always wanna know more about it.

Simpur has become somewhat of an Internet craze as of late, and it deserves to be. With the introduction of it’s Blogging Nation, it shows that Bruneians are ready to show the world what they think of it. The amount of blogs in the ‘Personal’ Category proves that Bruneians are no longer scared (well at least, not as scared as they were) to share their feelings and thoughts with people they don’t know. All the other (food, photoblogs, local scene, etc) categories show just creative we can be, provided we’re given easy access to the right tools, e.g. the Internet & Blogging software. Website design was cool for a moment, but it was limited to those who knew how to design. Blogging i think is the future of personal websites. It’s very easy to create one, and more importantly, very easy to update. So here I am, writing my first blog. It really is quite easy. No uploading this and that, no codes, no nothing :) Time will only tell just how long this ‘craze’ will last on me..

To end my first post, i’m going to attempt to try and leave you with a video from the ‘Get a Mac’ series, one of the first and one of my favorites.. Just one of the reasons why i converted ;)
